The area commonly referred to as “Tampa Bay” is not a municipality you will find on any map or within the state of Florida.
Tampa Bay is actually the name of a large natural harbor situated on the Gulf Coast of Florida, popularized by several professional sports teams (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Lightening) who make their home in Tampa, Florida and who represent the collective Tampa Bay area.
